Spark Plug Bottom Tap The only way to efficiently clean debris and contamination from the engine spark plug port threads is with a spark plug full bottom tap. Downin’s Inc offers this tap, specifically designed for spark plug ports. This is an unforgiving tool if used incorrectly. This tap is also available with long extensions (10”, 16”, 20”) for deep well applications.Go-NoGo Gauge It’s always a good idea to periodically verify the integrity of the engine spark plug port threads. A go-nogo gauge is the only tool to accurately gauge oversized or undersized port threads. These gauges are available in standard 6” length, or are available with long extensions (10”, 16”, 20”) for engines with deep spark plug wells.Seat Cleaner With every spark plug installation, it is recommended to clean the port “seat” first to remove any debris.
